Our splendid JE all electric vans have been pulling crowds everywhere they have been over the past two weeks. On Sunday 14th May we drove our faithful blue & cream van – our much-loved proof of concept vehicle, to join “Classics at Prescott”. Organised by Winchcombe Rotary Club at the home of The Bugatti Owner’s Club the event presented the occasion to take on the famous twisting hill climb and admire classics, whilst raising funds for many Rotary charities.
It was only the second public outing for the delectable “Morris Junior” – our electric scaled model of its big sister. Thrilled visitors swarmed around our exhibits – the two vans and the bewilderingly lightweight carbon fibre door. All generations were drawn by the characterful looks and the innovative, lightweight body materials of the alluring Morris JE. Several local artisan traders expressed interest in buying one to promote their Cotswold businesses.
The Wing at Silverstone was the Morris Team’s next location for an annual Engineering Integrity Society (EIS) event. This saw our preproduction prototype invited and heralded as the big attraction, earning the accolade, “It’s one of the most beautiful EVs Silverstone has ever displayed!” Whilst at such a motorsport mecca we couldn’t resist the opportunity to cruise around the outer circuit roads mixing it with some super Aston Martins!
The event afforded the perfect opportunity to see the latest advances, meet specialists, network within the engineering industry, and showcase the multiple merits of the engrossing all electric Morris JE. We were also pleased to attract engineering talent to join the growing team and received numerous job applications following these recent shows. More details here…
The latest April data from the UK’s SMMT shows a dramatic 62.6% year on year increase in battery electric van (BEV) uptake – from 919 to 1,494 units and a market share of 6.6%. New van registrations have risen 4.9% year on year to reach 22,665 units in April with greatest growth in the mid-range 2.5-ton sector where the Morris JE sits with its sector leading 1,000kg payload.
Demand and lead times for electric vans are growing, so now is a good time to reserve your place in the queue for a Morris JE.
