Junior Design Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Acting as part of the design team to deliver against Time, Cost and Quality requirements
- Assist in the development of Mechanical Engineering aspects of next generation Electric Vehicles
- Ensuring work is suitable designed for manufacture, including maintaining supplier relationship
- Participate in design and contract reviews, along with assisting the generation of appropriate levels of documentation in support of these reviews
- Undertake modifications to engineering designs based on feedback from team lead, customers and installers
- Support vehicle build activities
- Compile cost models for parts
- Continuously adopt cultural and process improvements
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Preferably degree-qualified in a Mechanical or similar Engineering discipline, with relevant past work experience.
- Experience in:
- Catia / 3DX or similar 3D CAD software
- Fabrication (metal cutting, bending, turning etc)
- Report / technical documentation creation
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and concepts
- Lateral thinker with creative approaches / ideas to troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Ability to work from limited information, written or verbal instructions, often requiring interpretation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with limited supervision
- Ability to integrate into work across multiple teams and projects
- Understanding of configuration control and the effects negligence could have on the business
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Welding (MIG/ TIG or Arc)
- Experience in an engineering business
- Knowledge of operating within an ISO 9001 quality system
