Senior Electric System Engineer

Position Overview:

As the Lead Electric Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading the development of our full electric propulsion system, encompassing both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) components, and drive the integration of these systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive vehicle electric engineering experience and a comprehensive understanding of electric vehicle systems architect, strong leadership and supplier management skill with a proven track record in developing and integrating electric propulsion systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of the overall electric propulsion system architecture for Morris JE. Oversee supplier development and deliveries. Responsible for electric system development from concept to prototype build, certification to job 1
  • Provide technical expertise to define the vehicle electrical system architecture, specifications, and technical requirements for the entire electric propulsion system, including power electronics, motor control, battery management, and all related sub systems.
  • Work closely with multiple disciplines in the Engineering team and suppliers in the development of innovative solutions for electric vehicle propulsion and the integration of both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) components, ensuring seamless communication and functionality between systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design, software engineering and vehicle integration, to ensure a holistic approach to system development.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate the electrical systems. Ensure that the electrical propulsion system meets all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during development and testing. Continuously analyse and optimise the performance of the electric propulsion system for efficiency, range, and overall vehicle performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation in the EV development.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent qualifications in electrical/electronics engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience with a minimum 8 years in electric vehicle system architecture and development.
  •  Technical proficiency and comprehensive understanding of electric propulsion systems including HV and LV components.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver results within specified timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and ensure timely delivery of quality components.
  • Innovative mindset with a passion for innovation and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technologies.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision and accuracy in design work.
  • Software capability will be an advantage.
