Our preproduction prototype was a real crowd-puller at Fully Charged. The event, the brainchild of Robert Llewellyn, ran from 28th to 30th April. Visitors flocked to see the Morris JE van – Morris Commercial’s gorgeous incarnation of an all-electric light commercial vehicle, in the flesh. There was simply no doubt that the retro styling, the stunning design, and characterful good looks struck a chord with fleet managers, independent business owners and private individuals alike. Everyone could visualise the impact and recognition that a JE van finished in their logos and colours would create – a mobile advert for their business!
As well as being drawn by the classic and iconic appearance, visitors were wowed by the carbon fibre body, which contributes significantly to the vehicle’s class-leading payload and competitive 250-mile (WLTP) range. The design of the rear doors (patent pending) and the traditional British craftsmanship also won plaudits. To illustrate how spacious the van is, a day camper was fitted with a cooking pod at the rear which slides out so one can cook in the sun, and a bench seat that can be converted to a double bed. Observers met the installation with delight and admiration in equal measure.
Our first electric Morris JE Junior prototype made its debut too. A credit to our young engineers, it excited children and parents alike.
Did you know that King Charles III and the original Morris J-type both arrived in 1948? It truly was an iconic year for the UK. The coronation is upon us and marks a new era in the history of our country. Months of planning and preparation is reaching its inspiring and emotive conclusion, and all before a global audience! As a brand that values British traditions and craftsmanship, and one that has a heritage of connections with the royal family, Morris Commercial is delighted to celebrate and mark the coronation of King Charles III.
We wish His Majesty a long and successful reign and look forward to prosperous times ahead.
